I am really enjoying David Guzik study guides on each Psalm in the Bible. He is a great teacher. You can just google Psalm 1 Guzik and it will come up on blue letter bible.
The Psalm tells us God owns the entire earth and all who dwell upon it. He is Creator!
It asks, who may be received by God? One Who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, nor sworn deceitfully. It refers to someone who is pure in their actions and intentions, their heart. Jesus Christ perfectly fulfilled this and the great amazing news is that because we are in Him, we may be received by our Father also. This is so huge, another reason to celebrate Jesus today!
There is an intensification of seeking God as we “seek His face” which is even closer than seeking Him. Selah!
We are called to welcome God Who reigns over all that exists. We lift up the gates and doors of our hearts and the King of glory shall come in, our Lord Who is mighty in battle! There is a rejoicing that develops as we set our hearts to open up towards Him. You may not feel like rejoicing but as you take time to set your focus on Him, the rejoicing comes.
He is PLEASED to come in. Make no mistake, you set the time and focus aside, He WILL come in and you will rejoice.
He bends down to hear each prayer. He stoops down to receive us and to be received BY us.
We are loved!
