Good Early Morning Blessings to the Beloved of God
Sometimes we are blind to our own needs. We do not connect with how much we need The Comforter.
One of our Reading folks has lived a hard gypsy type life but is currently living with a friend. She is a great help at our outreaches. She is also very street savvy. She knows how to “work it.”
She asked my group for a Christmas tree at our November outreach as we drove her back to her apartment laden with things from our tables. One person thought she might have an extra one but in the flurry of life we did not follow through with her request. She reminded me on Thursday when I was on the truck with Nadine. I sighed, then owned it. We had forgotten. I said nothing at the time because I didn’t know how I would get one at this late date and get it to her. We hugged, gave her food and she went back to her apartment.
The next morning The Comforter moved. I felt HIS longing for her to have a tree! It melted my heart. I texted my amazing group of folks and Sharon was already out and about early in the morning for shopping. She went online on her way to Walmart and found a small prelit tree but it said there were none left, even online. Sharon prayed and went into the store right to the Christmas tree area.
Guess what. There was 1 left! It was hers.
Sharon texted me the picture. I said, it’s perfect! We met at Granite Point before my eye doctor appointment and did the hand off. After my short visit I drove into N 10th street. Our person was very glad for the tree. Then she tried some of her “street moves” on me. I recognized the times in my own life where I tried to manipulate a person or a situation and just gave her a smile and a hug. I had extra clothes in the back of my car in case I saw someone walking without a coat, as I saw on Thursday. I gave her a beautiful poncho that had been sitting in the back of my closet for years. She loved it.
She texted me a picture of her tree and it’s beautiful. It fits in their tiny apartment. We ALL received comfort from The Comforter in this encounter! Today I exhort you with these three truths. First, receive comfort from The Comforter inside of you. Take a moment right now and invite Him to come front and center! We all need Him. This is key to the second truth. As we receive from Him we are then able to extend that comfort to everyone around us who need comfort as much as we do! 2 Cor 1:3-7
