Look Only To Him
Published on: September 18, 2023

We are moving from 2023 to 2024 and the 23rd and 24th Psalms reflect this transition and cycle of time as we are now in Rosh Hashana, the Head of the Jewish Year, in the 10 days of awe which lead up to the Day of Atonement which begins the evening of 9/24/23 into 9/25/23. This is a time when we come before the Lord in fasting and prayer as He inspects His troops with His rod and staff. His purpose is to sanctify, set us apart and impart what we will need for this war season.

Psalm 23 ends like this in the Amplified Bible. “Surely or only goodness, mercy and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life and through the length of my days the house of the Lord (and His presence) shall be my dwelling place.” This actually means that while we are alive on the earth we are to turn and keep returning to the Lord within us, as His temple, to continue praying and offering sacrifices of praise and adoration, glorifying His name every day, as His own.

Psalm 24 notes that we are to “lift up your heads, o ye gates, and be lifted up ye age-abiding doors that the King of glory may come in.” As we enter the Hebrew year of 5784 it is also 2024, Psalm 24, the year of the door in Hebrew meaning. There are new doors opening before all of us and it’s time we get off the threshold and go through.

This morning as I meditated upon these truths I moved forward to Psalm 25 and in verse 15 the Lord’s instruction came through. I leave that with you for this day.

“My eyes are ever toward You, Lord, for You will pluck my feet out of the net.”

There is no evil net within the spirit realm, no matter how intricately or multi layered it is, that can keep us in entrapment as we trust in the Lord and keep our eyes on Him. He is our safe refuge! He will keep, guard and instruct us as we bow before Him in humility and worship.

Shalom Shalom
