“THE GOD OF ALL COMFORT WHO COMFORTS US IS THE GOD AND FATHER OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, THE FATHER OF MERCIES AND COMPASSION. HE COMFORTS US IN ALL OUR AFFLICTIONS, TROUBLES AND TRIBULATIONS, SO WE CAN COMFORT OTHERS With the SAME COMFORT WE RECEIVE FROM HIM. HE IS THE GOD OF ALL COMFORT, NOT JUST A LITTLE COMFORT. HE WANTS TO HELP US AND DRAW CLOSE TO US, BUT WE MUST ALSO DRAW CLOSE TO HIM AND SEEK HIS PRESENCE. HE IS THE GOD OF ALL COMFORT, WHO COMFORTS US IN ALL OUR TRIALS. 2 COR 1:3-7
God gives us comfort first. He gives strength and hope to us. He eases our griefs and troubles. We feel relief, contentment and inspired with courage. HE IS A GOOD GOD! We all need His comfort.
Then we are to give comfort to others because He has already given us what we need to do so. We are able to speak a word of cheer to those in trouble. We may console them, give them assistance and support. It is so helpful when we reassure each other in this realm. Instead of being distant from our courage (“dis-couraged”) we become one with courage Himself and we are “encouraged.”
Be greatly comforted in the arms of our Good God today. Then move out and invigorate someone in your circle of influence. The Lord says, “take care of those I send you to. As you take care of them, I take care of you.”
I absolutely testify that this is true. God has comforted me mightily and He still does. I am strengthened to go out and comfort others.
It is the same with you.
Shalom Shalom
