The Payoff to Gratitude
Published on: June 29, 2023

When we express gratitude to God we are in a state of thankfulness. We tell Him how much we appreciate Him. Our brains actually love being bathed in a state of appreciation where positive thoughts cascade and flow one upon another. I see a picture of a happy brook gurgling and bubbling over stones.

We are most grateful that we know Him, the Father Who Himself pulled us out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of His Son’s glorious light. He know Jesus, the Only One Who died for us, descended, arose and ascended into heaven where He placed His blood on the mercy seat. He took us with Him through that entire journey! We know Holy Spirit Who resides within us! He is always our Helper, Comforter, Counselor, Advisor, Strengthener and Standby. Start there.

During an Immanuel Prayer Session after we open with prayer we coach the person receiving to see the Lord and lead them to tell Him how much they appreciate Him. Time is taken here until the person feels it in their heart. Tears often accompany this time. Something happens.

In the act of expressing gratitude to the Lord for Who He is and for all His attributes, our hearts open and we are more able to receive from Him. He is our Source of life, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, goodness, self control, compassion and energy! We desperately need to posture ourselves to receive from Him on a daily basis. Every good and perfect gift given by Him flows from this place of relationship.

The people around us are impacted by this act of daily gratitude. They feel better in our presence.

Receive from Him. Then go be the light you were designed to be.

Shalom Shalom
