I just heard this phrase this morning as I listened to a podcast. It’s a common phrase but it “went in deeper” today. It has to do with relationship. It comes from BEING WITH another person. I believe Jesus’s disciples caught more from being in His Presence than in what He actually taught because they often asked Him about His parables.
Then I thought, this applies to us especially in the need to get into the secret place (Psalm 91) and remain, dwell, abide, wait for the Lord. Search out the treasures in His Word and have a conversation with Him. I often read something and say out loud, “wow, I never saw this scripture that way before” or “what do You mean in this because I’m also thinking about another scripture now that ties in with this one.” It becomes a very interactive process to take notes and listen.
Someone just told me how they are diving into the Old Testament and realizing the many-faceted personality of our King. It made them somewhat uncomfortable but they are feeling that strong love pull to dig in anyway. I had a taste of this love many years ago when I heard the voice of God shouting out in a dream as if through Niagara Falls, ‘I LOVE YOU!!!”
“And behold the glory of the God of Israel came from the east and His voice was like the sound of many waters, and the earth shone with His glory” Ezekiel 43:2.
I thought, wow, Your voice IS like many waters! (See Psalm 29 for more on God’s voice!)
I believe we “catch” more as we bask in praise and worship too. ANY hanging out with the King is good for us.
I pray we all “catch” what the Lord is imparting as we spend time with Him.
Shalom Shalom
