Be Ready to Receive
Published on: March 15, 2023

One thing I have become increasingly aware of is my need to receive more from Father God. I believe most of us understand the need to give and even desire to do so. We give because we love God, that is our motivation. Yet God desires to bestow so much more on us.

For example, if we don’t have joy it’s because we aren’t asking enough. “You have not because you ask not, or you ask with wrong motives,” James 4:2-3. Our circumstances will not fill us with joy. Only God can do that. What happens to us here may give us happiness which is a temporary feeling related to events on the earth. Joy is our strength and sustains us through the hard things.

The parable of the sower is actually about the various types of “soils” (hearts) whereupon the seed fell. If our hearts are unreceptive, hard, stony, thorny, distracted, we cannot receive the “more” – of all God’s character and fruits.

It is right for us to open our arms wide every day and ask for more love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self control.  In this way we recognize and acknowledge our deep need of the Lord.

“Put your head down on my chest and spend time with Me,” Father says to each one of us. “I AM all you need for all the circumstances in your life. No matter what you are going through I will fill you even to overflowing as you make it your practice to dwell in My Presence. ”
