January 2, 2023 – Chewing
Published on: January 3, 2023
I have had the sense to spend more time in actual meditation and pursue spiritual disciplines more. This was confirmed by several sources in the natural world and in the spiritual realm. To give you a more vivid picture, just look at the cow!
A cow has 4 stomachs. That means she chews the cud until it goes into one, then she “brings it up again” for more chewing as it goes into her 2nd stomach, then she re-gurgitates and chews MORE as it goes into 3 and then into 4. That’s how we need to meditate upon the Word of God. Look at it, mutter it out loud, google synonyms and look up meanings of English words in Webster’s and even go further into Hebrew and Greek meanings using concordances. (I like Strong’s concordance but there are other good ones.)
Current science suggests that 10 to 15 minutes per day of meditation may give us many health benefits, including reducing stress, improving emotional health, reversing age related memory loss and perhaps even generating more acts of kindness. The world offers us many ways to meditate but REALITY will only be found in God’s Word. I mean, it’s God speaking in His Word. Who else would you rather learn from?
As King Jesus moves us forward into 2023 my encouragement is for all of us to fix our minds on HIM. How about this passage to start?
“He is the sole expression of the glory of God (the Light-being, the out-raying or radiance of the Divine) and He is the perfect imprint and very image of God’s nature, upholding and maintaining and guiding and propelling the universe by His mighty word of power…” (Hebrews 1:3)
Today I sign off with “shalom” because it means profound psychological and emotional peace to us who “set our minds on Him” (Isa 26:3). Meditate on Jesus and the result is peace, harmony, wholeness, completeness, prosperity, welfare and tranquility.  Go ahead, try it for 15 minutes.
Shalom,
Kathi
